I am Lennaert Bel, third-year Physics, Mathematics and Informatics student. On behalf of Physics I'm also a member of the Faculty Council of Science. In times of economical crisis, it comes without saying that budget cuts have to be made, but I find that before they are made, we must take a elaborate look at frivolous university spending (e.g. unnecessary reorganizations), before essential student facilities suffer in quality from budget cuts. In my point of view, the University Council should be a critical sparring partner of the Executive Board, not the compliant listener it seems to be now
